Nails Of The Day (NOTD): Matte Blood Red

Recently, the beauty world has been taken over by the ‘matte finish’ trend. Just apply a clear mattifying nail varnish as a topcoat to any varnish, and your glossy varnish will turn into a velvety matte colour just after a few seconds.

Rimmel Matte Finish

I decided to put the Rimmel Matte Finish mattifying topcoat to the test and tried it over the top of Essie’s Silken Cord, a very glossy blood red varnish.

It is indeed impressive and I love how this combo turned out. It makes a blood red or any other bright nail varnish much more wearable on a daily basis, and it just screams sophistication! I can’t say I find it easy to wear red on my nails, but with the matte finish it’s much more demure.

Rimmel’s Matte Finish topcoat performed superbly. It says on the bottle that the effect will last for up to 10 days, and although I have never been able to keep a nail varnish on my nails for longer that 5 days, it sounds pretty impressive!

I do find it that you can’t really tell the difference between a normal and a matte finish when you have a very glittery varnish on, but maybe it was only the particular one I tried.

So, girlies, matte nails are here to stay this season, so go grab yourself a bottle of Rimmel’s Matte Finish in your nearest Boots or Superdrug and let me know what you think! :)

Au revoir!
