Pretty Little Liars Look: Aria’s Signature Makeup and Loose Curls

It’s been such a long time since my last Pretty Little Liars look! Last time I did a look based on Spencer Hastings (click here), so today I’m doing Aria Montgomery, played by Lucy Hale.

If I had to describe Aria in one word, I’d say ‘edgy’. She is bold on her outfits, her makeup is much more intense than all the other girls, but she still manages to look sweet and girly. Aria is, in my opinion, the most stylist of the girls on the show; I wish I could pull off a complete Aria look, but I think I’ll leave that to Miss Hale and to all the other stylish girls out there. For now, I’ll stick to her hair and makeup :-)

Makeup

Aria’s biggest makeup features are her dramatic eyebrows and constant use of black eyeliner. Her skin is very pale and flawless, she uses a bit of bronzer under the cheekbones to shape the face. Her lips are most of the times very natural with a glossy finish.

For the eyes, she either goes for a brown smokey eye or for a gold/bronze eyeshadow all over the lid with a warm toned eyeshadow on the crease (I chose the latter). On the bottom lashes, she softens the harsh line of the eyeliner with an eye pencil brush. To get the effect of bigger and brighter eyes that Aria always wears, bring the eyeliner from the outer corner up to the middle of the eye. On the inner corner, use a lighter eyeshadow (champagne or silver toned colours) to highlight and open up the eyes. Oh, and don’t forget to put on loads of mascara!

The photos that inspired the makeup look I attempted to recreate were from the episode 07, series 1 ‘The Homecoming Hangover’. It seems to be a classic example of what Aria’s style is all about.

Hair

Her hair is, most of the times, styled with loose curls from the middle of the hair down and lots of volume! Sometimes she wears it straight, and other times she puts it up in a messy bun, but I chose the loose curls because it seems to be the one that she wears more often. I used my Babyliss Curling Wand to create these curls, and them combed through the hair to loosen them a bit.

If you’re going for the whole look, don’t forget to add some hippie inspired earrings or necklace; don’t be afraid to be bold! :o)

What do you think of my take on Aria Montgomery’s look? Would attempt this look? Leave a comment below!
