January Glossybox: The Valentine’s Edition (Review + Contents)

This month, the Glossybox team put together the second limited edition beauty box and it’s the Valentine’s Day Edition. The concept behind the box is to ‘pamper and preen’ ourselves, and basically just be good to our lovely selves.First of all, the Valentine’s Glossybox is pink! That appeals 100% to my taste; I love pink and anything pink is already half sold to me. As you open the box, the ‘cuteness’ continues with a little pink heart sticker on the wrapping paper. I really like how much thought is put into the smallest details to make us feel in the mood for Valentine’s Day.

Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner (Midnight Blue) Full size £9.50 per pencil

This was the product I was most excited about when I opened the box. Eyeko has recently revamped its whole brand, and I’ve read great reviews about their products. This eyeliner has a ridiculously long handle that gets skinnier towards the end. According to Eyeko, the long cable should make it easier to use the eyeliner when the pencil is tiny, after sharpening quite a few times. I quite like the concept, but when holding a mirror up close, the long handle makes it hard to apply the eyeliner when the pencil is still big.

Aside from that, the pigmentation on this eyeliner is unbelievable! The colour is so rich and smooth, and the pencil glides effortlessly on the skin. The colour I got is called ‘Midnight Blue’ and it is a deep navy blue, which is a perfect alternative to black and brown eyeliner, without looking too crazy. The downside is that it smudges a lot. Even minutes after applying the eyeliner, the colour had already transferred onto my lids.

Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream Full size £48 | 50ml

I am a big fan of Clarins, and actually the HydraQuenc Cream is one of my all-time favourite moisturisers. The Extra Firming Night Cream smells lovely and it’s a thick and refreshing cream. It’s not greasy at all and it’s absorbed by the skin practically instantly. This cream left my skin feeling soft and ready for bed. Unfortunately, the full size bottle is quite pricey and I’m not sure I can fork out the money, which makes me really sad because I’m seriously in love with this product.

Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream Full size £46.50 | 50ml

Continuing with the Clarins theme, now we have a Day Cream. This one has the same smell as the night cream above, but it much more moisturising and richer. It also takes a bit longer to get absorbed by the skin, but it’s not greasy. The full size bottle is also quite dear, but I’m not too bothered about the Day Cream because I liked it, but didn’t love it.

FAB Gentle Body Wash Full size £10 | 226.8g

This one was just a bit confusing. The description on my leaflet says ‘Body Wash’, but the product says ‘Body Moisturizer’. Anyway, I’m guessing I should trust the bottle, and this moisturiser contains shea butter to nourish the skin and other ingredients to soothe and heal rough or dry skin. When I first squirted a bit of the product on my hand, it looked like a foamy texture, but when I touched it, I surprised to find out it was actually quite a thin creamy consistency, even though it looks thick on the photos. It is allergy-tested and fragrance free, leaving the skin feeling lightly grease, which I suppose is what you want when your skin is feeling extra dry. But I generally prefer moisturisers that feel more lightweight on the skin. This moisturiser is suitable even to people with sensitive skin and the price of the full size bottle is pretty reasonable.

Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer (Dewy Finish) Full size £29 | 30ml

Last, but not least, this is a face primer that claims to minimise the appearance of pores and leave the skin looking glowy. The cream is tinted and it smells of normal makeup. Despite being quite runny, I did notice it left my skin looking radiant and glowy, but I didn’t see a visible reduction of pores. I would definitely buy the full size of this product simply because of the beautiful glow it gave to my skin.

Overall, I’m super happy with the January Glossybox. I think the Glossybox team hit the nail on the head this month, and it definitely made me feel excited about Valentine’s day. I would use all of the products in the box, and I would purchase the full size of most of them.

What do you think of the January Glossybox: The Valentine’s Edition? Did you get the same things as me? What’s your favourite product of the box?

Au revoir!

Ysis
