L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick (Review and Swatches)

L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks in ‘Impulsive Fuchsia’ and ‘Dating Coral’, £7.99 each – Boots

Around about the same time Revlon Lip Butters (my review here) launched in the UK, L’Oreal brought out its rival Rouge Caresse collection which has been causing quite a buzz around the beauty blogosphere lately. According to L’Oreal, Rouge Caresse lipsticks have a lightweight formula and soft texture that glides on the lips and gives them luminous shine.

Now the question is: Which one is better, Revlon Lip Butter or L’Oreal Rouge Caresse? In a nutshell, I prefer Rouge Caresse. Even though they both start off on the same premise, – a balmy lipstick – L’Oreal has really perfected its product.

When I tried on Rouge Caresse for the first time I was amazed at the almost melting feeling of the lipstick. It’s incredibly weightless and velvety, and best of all, without compromising the colour. Which brings me to my next point: pigmentation; These lipsticks are incredibly pigmented, way better than Revlon Lip Butters and more moisturising. The packaging looks gorgeous as sophisticated compared to Revlon’s Lip Butters. Some people may say it’s a bit chunky, but I like it a lot. Overall, Rouge Caresse is a product that does what it says on the tin, and not many do nowadays, especially drugstore (high street) ones.

The shade selection is pretty good as well. There are 10 shades with a good mix of nudes, pinks, peaches, berries and reds. My favourite and chosen ones for this review were #202 ‘Impulsive Fuchsia’ and #301 ‘Dating Coral’. Let’s have a close look at the swatches.

‘Impulsive Fuchsia’ is the brightest, most beautiful fuchsia with a hint of pink and purple. This has been my go-to shade for the past week when I feel like my look needs a bit of lift. I adore this colour and will repurchase when I run out of it!

‘Dating Coral’ is the sweetest peachy-pink lipstick I own. This was a bit of a bold choice for me, I only own one coral lipstick, which I hate, but I looked at this one and something told me it would be pretty. I was right! Normally, coral lipsticks are not very flattering on me, but this one was perfect. A very sweet pastel shade of coral, which is super en vogue at the moment. If you’ve had a bit of a hard time with coral lipsticks before like me, I’d recommend trying this one :)

Will I buy more of these? Absolutely yes! I think L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks do have a quality differential to justify the not so friendly price tag and I can see myself loving these throughout the whole year!

L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks are available NOW from Boots, priced at £7.99. They are currently on a 3 for 2 offer so make the most of it :)

Au revoir!

Ysis
