Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Gel Cream Eyeshadows, Boots and Superdrug, £4.99

I can’t deny I’m a MAC eyeshadow kind of girl, but when I started seeing pictures all over the internet of the new Maybelline Color Tatto Eyeshadows I couldn’t hide my excitement. Unfortunately for us here in the UK, the wait was long, so when I saw them in Boots last week I didn’t think twice and grabbed one of each shade they had in stock. I felt like saying to the lady that served me in Boots, ‘My name is Ysis and I’m a makeupholic’. Anyways, moving on! They look the part, but do they play the part? Let’s find out!

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows are one of a kind; I would put them somewhere in between a cream and a gel eyeshadow and they have also been named dupes for MAC Paint Pots. Once you apply it, within a few seconds it dries completely and it doesn’t budge at all, hence the ‘tattoo’ part in the name. The pigmentation is outstanding! It really does compare to MAC Paint Pots, just a bit less creamy. I’ve worn them as eyeliner, eyeshadow on its own and as an eye primer, all of which have blown me away with the results!

The shades I picked up are #35 ‘On and On Bronze’, #40 ‘Permanent Taupe’, #05 ‘Eternal Gold’, #20 ‘Turquoise Forever’ and #55 ‘Immortal Charcoal’. Shall we have a close look at them?

#35 ‘On and On Bronze’ is a warm bronze / copper shade on the pot and a bit more on the cool side, silver toned on the swatch. This is really up my street for an everyday look on its own all over the lid!

#40 ‘Permanent Taupe’ is a matte taupe with purple and brown undertones. I’m excited to try to a look buffing this colour on the outer half of my eyes and a bit of silver on the inner half. I think this will look gorgeous for an evening makeup look!

#05 ‘Eternal Gold’ is a pure and simple metallic gold eyeshadow colour. It’s great of the inner corner of the eyes when combined with a brown or bronze smokey eye.

#20 ‘Turquoise Forever’ is an electric aqua blue colour with tiny flecks of silver shimmer. The swatch is very true to what you see on the pot, and this is one of my favourite shades. If you want to see what it looks like on the eyes, I’ve recently done an FOTD post (here) wearing it as an eyeliner and I got lots of compliments on my eye makeup that day!

#55 ‘Immortal Charcoal’ is a silver graffiti colour with a metallic finish. To me, this was the biggest surprise of all because based on the name, I didn’t expect that colour at all, maybe something more dark brown instead. Nevertheless, it’s an amazing colour to use as an upper lashline eyeliner when you don’t want the intensity of a black eyeliner, but still want to pop some colour to define your eyes.

So that’s all I got for now, ladies! I’ve still got my eyes on a few other shades, but I’ll probably wait a while longer to get them and have a good play with the colours I’ve got so far. I honestly think they are well worth the money and a great investment!

What do you think of the Maybelline Color Tatto eyeshadows? Have you got your hands on any of them? Do you think they compare to MAC Paint Pots?

Ysis
