Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (Review and Swatches)

The recent launch of Rimmel’s Wake Me Up foundation has caused a major buzz around the beauty community, and I was dying to get my hands on it from the moment I saw it on my favourite beauty blogs. This is Rimmel’s first liquid foundation and it promises to give your skin an awake appearance and a healthy glow.

The foundation has SPF 15 in it, which will definitely be a plus in the coming months (hello summer!), and it also contains ‘iluminating radiance pearls’ (tiny specks of shimmer), which I’m sure won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it didn’t bother me at all.

Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation has a medium consistency; not as thick as Bourjois Healthy Mix and Esteé Lauder Doublewear, but not as thin as MAC Face and Body and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. The coverage is low to medium, but buildable. Although I’m not usually a fan of foundations with particular smells, the citrusy smell of this foundation was quite pleasant.

The 10-hour staying power that it claims to have is something I have yet to try. So far, it has lasted for as long as I needed it to last. I’m very pleased with this foundation. I definitely noticed a particular glow on my skin and it made my complexion look natural and radiant! One thing I’m not a fan of is the selection of shades; it’s truly geared up for lighter skin tones. My skin colour is a medium olive with yellow undertones and I had to go for the darkest shade (#400 Natural Beige), which still wasn’t a perfect match but I can work with it. So if you’re a MAC NC35 onwards, you probably won’t be happy with the shade selection.

What do you think of Rimmel’s brand new Wake Me Up foundation? Have you tried it?

Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation is available NOW from Boots and Superdrug, priced at £8.99. It’s currently on a 3 for 2 offer on both websites, so get yours while it lasts! :)

Au revoir!
