Beauty Box: May Joliebox (Review)
The theme of this month’s Joliebox is plant-based products and ‘flower power’. At first I didn’t quite know what to make of this box because I’m not a huge fan of plant-scented products (I’m more of a cotton candy kind of girl when it comes to skin and hair products). Let’s have a look inside!
Essential Care Organic Rose Moisturiser – This is a thin and refreshing moisturiser that gets absorbed by the skin moderately quickly. Essential Care claims to use the maximum possible organically grown ingredients in their products. It’s suitable from vegans and it’s not tested on animals. The plant smell is not my favourite smell for a moisturiser, but it’s not too strong, so in the end I actually found it quite pleasing. Would I repurchase this product? Probably not. But I’ll enjoying using up my little sample :)
Talika Eye Therapy Patch – It’s a reusable patch for the under-eye area that claims to reduce dark circles and eye bags, as well as smooth wrinkles. I suffer from dark circles and bags under my eyes, so I can’t wait to try this tonight. It looks quite promising and I’m glad I got this instead of the eyelash growth product that some people got in their boxes.
RMK Make Up Base – This is a makeup primer to be used before foundation. It feels great on my extremely dry skin and it doesn’t leave a greasy finish; In fact, after a few seconds, you can’t even feel that you applied anything at all to your skin. I love that this primer doubles as a moisturiser because I don’t like to put too many products on my skin before foundation, so this 2-in-1 will come in handy from now on. I’ve heard a lot about RMK, but never had the chance to try anything from the brand, so I was happy to see this bottle in my May Joliebox.
China Glaze Professional Nail Lacquer in ‘Fuchsia Fanatic’ – Last but not least, this bright fuchsia nail varnish from China Glaze is my first from the aforementioned brand. The polish is a bit too thin for my taste, but the colour payoff is very good. You can get a pretty good finish with just one coat, but if you want your nails to look a bit glossier, I’d apply a second coat.
I’ve also been enjoying reading the JolieMag. My favourite section of this month’s JolieMag was the Beauty Tips given by the Jolie Members. I think it’s a great way of interacting with all the subscribers and to make them feel like they are a part of the whole process, rather than just another paying customer!
Overall, this was a good beauty box. Not great, not ‘wow’, but pretty good. I’m excited to see what’s in store for next month’s Birthday Box, which promises to bring some of the Joliebox team’s favourite French brands.
Au revoir!
