Carrying on with my recent Elf purchases (click here to read my review of the Elf Matte Lip Color in Coral), I decided to give the Lip Liner & Blending Brush a try. I’ve never been into lip liners before, in fact this is the first lip liner I’ve ever bought!

This lip liner comes with a blending brush, which you can use to blend the liner all over your lips. This is particularly useful if you want your lipstick to fade evenly, especially if you’re going for a bold lip colour, such as red or fuchsia. By applying the liner all over the lips before lipstick, you’re creating a base, so when the lipstick starts to fade, you still have your base intact underneath.

I chose the colour ‘Red’ because, as I said above, I thought it would be a great base for a ‘red lips look’. At first sight, it looks like a deep burgundy red, but when applied to the lips, it comes out as a blood red. The lip liner glides effortlessly over the lips and the colour payoff is outstanding! I started by following the outline of my lips to define its shape, then I continued filling in the rest until I had an even base all around.

I’m very happy with this lip liner! I didn’t use the blending brush because I was happy enough with how it turned out with the liner on its own. As a first time buyer of lip liners, I’m probably not in a position to give you a comparison with any other liners, but I can say I was pleased with this one and I’m glad I got  it in two more shades :)
