How To: Highlight The Cheeks (Tutorial)
A few days ago I blogged about my current addiction to Highlighters and I reviewed the Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance mousse highlighter (HERE); I promised I would show you photos of what it looked like on me, so I thought I’d do a quick tutorial on how I’ve been using this product to highlight my cheeks. I’ve used it everyday since I bought it and I think it’s the most beautiful and natural highlighter for my skin tone. Here’s the quick tutorial:
1. Apply your favourite blusher and bronzer beforehand; locate the top of your cheekbone and apply a few dots of the highlighter following the bone up to your your temple.
2. Use little dabbing motions with a buffing brush to blend the product without washing the colour pigmentation away; then use your fingers smooth everything over and you’re done!
I did all of my makeup beforehand so I knew exactly what it would look like once I’d finished highlighting. The difference is pretty subtle, but so effective; this cheeky little thing catches the light beautifully and it really does make my skin look glowy!
I would recommend this to all of you medium/olive skin toned ladies that struggle to highlight with something like Benefit High Beam. It also looks gorgeous on lighter skin tones to bronze up the skin the Millie Mackintosh style :)

I LOVE your tutorials Ysis! My favourite highlighting product is (ah it’s so tough!!!) Dior Amber Diamond or Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow! xx

Great tutorial! The difference is subtle in your before and after pictures but I really do think that highlighter makes all the difference. I usually go for Benefit’s Highbeam or Moonbeam but I’m really loving Rimmel’s Instant Radiance Shimmer at the moment :)

Hi Sandra, if you have pink undertones, something like Benefit High Beam will work great on you :) x
Le Beauty Girl
Thanks, Angelica. Yes, it’s really subtle, but I agree with you that it makes all the difference :) I’m yet to try Moonbeam, but I’ve heard it’s beautiful! x
Le Beauty Girl
Aw thanks, Amelia :) I haven’t tried Amber Diamond or JK Dewy Glow, but they are definitely on my list. *credit card cries* LOL xx

This looks like a lovely highlighter. I’m quite a fan of Nars The Multiple but I might give this a try for the summer here in Oz :-)

I’ve just recently fallen in love with highlighters. I got Technic’s High Lights – Benefit’s High Beam dupe – and it works amazing!

Oh I haven’t tried the Technic one yet. Will have a little look for it :) x

Nars do great highlighters. I must take the plunge and try one! :) x
Le Beauty Girl
Yeah, I used to blend it with my fingers as well, but I found that the stippling brush doesn’t displace the product as much :) x
