L’Oreal Color Infallible Eyeshadow (Review & Swatches)
L’Oreal Color Infallible Eyeshadow, £6.99 || Boots
I first heard about these eyeshadows on Amelia’s blog (Liana Beauty) and I knew I had to have them; but you know me, I can’t choose, so with a cheeky smile on my face, I went and got the three shades that most appealed to my taste. Naughty Ysis!
Specs
This is the L’Oreal Color Infallible Eyeshadow, a velvety – almost buttery soft – powder eyeshadow, built to last up to 24 hours with claims of being water-resistant and smudge-resistant. Despite being a powder eyeshadow, at first touch, it feels almost like a cream, which is why L’Oreal calls it a ‘hybrid powder texture’.
Shades
Color Infallible is available in 14 shades (list below) and I got three: Time Resist White (#001), Flashback Silver (#015) and Sahara Treasure (#021).
Time Resist White is a frosty ivory/champagne white shade, great for highlighting under the brow bone and on the inner corner of the eyes.
Flashback Silver is a shimmery blue-ish/purple silver which is great to create a silver and black smokey eye for a bold evening eye makeup look.
Sahara Treasure is a frosty golden bronze colour, perfect for an everyday wash of colour all over the lid or for a brown and gold smokey eye.
Consistency
I must say this is the smoothest eyeshadow I’ve ever tried! With a gentle touch you can almost feel the product melt on your fingers, without disintegrating. When I first applied Color Infallible to my eyelids, I found that, if applied with a brush, the eyeshadow looses a lot of its colour payoff and just leaves a sheer wash of colour on the lids. Applied with the fingers, however, it changes to super-duper pigmented, delivering a great thick layer of the product with one swipe across the lids.
Claims
I was determined to test its water ‘resistant-ness’, so I swatched the eyeshadows on my arm, put my arm in the sink and ran the tap for about 40 seconds over the eyeshadows. I’m pleased to confirm that they did not fade or budge; somehow, they were even harder to remove after that! Very impressive stuff.
As for lasting 24 hours, I don’t think I will ever be able to test that claim, as I don’t plan on wearing my makeup for an entire day anytime soon. Lastly, I wouldn’t go as far to say that Color Infallible is smudge proof, because it isn’t; but it’s not easily smudged either, so if you have an itchy eye, just rub it lightly and carefully and you’ll be ok.
Verdict
Overall, I would recommend L’Oreal Color Infallible eyeshadows to anyone looking for a highly pigmented and easy to apply eyeshadow. The shade range is fantastic and they are also water-resistant, which is an added bonus for peace of mind. The buttery soft consistency is a dream to apply and blend, however, stay away from brushes when applying them or you’ll loose almost all of its pigmentation.

Love the look of Sahara! I’m really interested in how these compare to Maybelline Colour tattoo, (which I know you’ve blogged about before) as they sound like quite a similar product. What do you think?

Thank you, Angelica! I also have millions of brown shades, but every so often I try to choose different colours so I have a few more options when doing my makeup :) x

It’s gorgeous or inner eye and brow bone!! :) x

They are fairly similar, but Colour Tattoos have a creamy texture and set to a finish like MAC Paint Pots. The Colour Infallible ones are more velvety, not so much of a creamy texture, and set to a powder finish. I love both of them for different reasons :) x
Le Beauty Girl
No problems, Amelia! You’re such an enabler :) haha. Thank you for your sweet words! xx

Ah ok, so I need to purchase both – that’s what I hoped to hear! ;) x
