I’m a Chanel No. 5 kind of girl; everyone who knows me will agree with this statement. Over the years, I’ve finished countless bottles which has left a permanent dent in my bank account; it has been my signature scent for at least 8 years, with no rivals… until now.

This is the new YSL Manifesto, a fragrance with jasmine at its core, appealing to feminine, free-spirited, audacious women. Manifesto is sweet, fresh and sensual – the epitome of femininity! When I think of Manifesto I think of someone like Blake Lively, for her subtle provocativeness and femininity mixed with a modern and vibrant personality.

Loc Dong, one of the Manifesto perfumers, claims “it would be simplistic to call it a floral fragrance”, and I completely agree. Manifesto also has notes of lily of the valley, sandalwood and vanilla, creating a unique and audacious fragrance, full of contrasts! At its core, it’s jasmine, which – surprise, surprise – is at the heart of Chanel No. 5 as well; no wonder I fell in love with Manifesto immediately!

The bottle itself is stunning; a glass bottle with purple and gold details, in the shape of a feminine silhouette. In the middle, there’s a multifaceted amethyst coloured jewel that really makes this bottle stand out from all others. The word that sums it all up is ‘extravagance’!

Loc Dong describes exactly the type of woman I would see wearing Manifesto: “a very beautiful woman dressed in Yves Saint Laurent couture clothes. You notice her. She is confident, free-spirited, sophisticated and extremely feminine”. Touché!

Having said all that, I still don’t think I did it justice. Manifesto is beautiful! Well worth a try if you’re in the market for a new fragrance and you like perfumes like Chanel No. 5 and J’Adore by Dior. Today I officially declare the end of the Chanel No.5 reign and the start of the YSL Manifesto era. I have found my new signature scent!

Have you tried YSL Manifesto? What’s your signature scent? I’d love to know :)

Au revoir!

Ysis
