Both our families are quite private, so I didn’t want to intrude too much on such an intimate day; instead, I decided to unwind from the internet world and make the most of my Christmas break surrounded by some of my favourite people! Of course, Christmas at the in-laws was so lovely that I had share a few of the snaps I managed to take in between mince pies.

After quickly getting ready for the big day ahead, we made our way to church to attend the Christmas morning service at the church we got married nearly 6 months ago. The service was lovely and I always leave church feeling more positive and peaceful – I must go to church more often! Then it was time head back to the in-laws and enjoy every moment of the much awaited Christmas day.

We each had an enormous bag full of presents with our names on, but we were told to wait until after dinner to open them. Speaking of dinner, my mother-in-law cooks the best Christmas dinner ever, and I swear it gets better every year! Inside our Christmas crackers we each had a wind-up penguin, which obviously turned into a racing competition; mine managed to come in second place, every time – go penguin! So after nearly passing out from eating so much, we ran to the sofas ready to dive into the bag full of goodies. I got so many lovely gifts; I’m a really lucky girl!

I absolutely love giving presents and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how pleased everyone was with their pressies! The atmosphere was very festive and after a lot of chatting and joking around, the TV was turned on for us to watch Her Majesty’s traditional Christmas day message.

If Christmas dinner wasn’t enough, my sister-in-law baked a delicious Christmas cake and we all managed to fit in a slice (or two). We then had a game of Mall Madness, hunt the thimble and a good old who ‘dunnit’ Murder Mystery game.

It’s safe to say Christmas at the in-laws was delightful. Can we do it again, please? :)

How was your Christmas break? I hope you all had an amazing time with your families and friends!
