The quest for the perfect neutral eyeshadow palette is a quest that every ‘beauty girl’ must partake. To us, the perfect palette ought to score high on several categories, such as pigmentation, lasting power, versatility, colour-coordination & travel-friendly. Most palettes I’ve tried (and that’s a heck of a lot!) manage to get top marks on 3-4 categories, but we want perfection, don’t we? Well, I may have found ‘perfection’. Forget the UD Naked palettes or the Nars NARSissist, my perfect palette was a total ‘shot in the dark’ purchase which paid off tremendously! Ready?

Travel Friendly: The Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection offers 9 coordinating eyeshadows aimed at creating a natural eye makeup look. It comes in a square box – a bit like a book – with a magnetic flap to seal it closed. It’s small enough to fit in a clutch bag and the magnet keeps it properly closed, unlike the UD Naked 1.

Colour Coordination: All colours are complementary to each other, but if you need help choosing the right colours, the palette is divided in 3 sections of 3 eyeshadows: Day, Classic & Fashion.

Versatility: The palette contains a mixture of mattes, shimmer, glitter, lights, medium & darks; it’s predominantly warm-toned, with 3 cool-toned shades.

The ‘Day’ row contains the three matte eyeshadows of the palette: Heaven is a matte cream, Velvet Revolver is a matte cool-toned taupe, and Sexpresso is a matte dark brown.

The ‘Classic’ row contains 3 shimmer shadows: Silk Teddy is a shimmery pink-champagne, Push-Up is a shimmery rose-gold brown, and Erotica is a cool-toned charcoal grey with gold shimmer.

The Fashion’ row contains 1 high glitter and 2 shimmer shadows: Nude Beach is a glittery pink champagne, Honey Pot is a shimmery bronze gold, and Cocoa Puff is a warm-toned chocolate-brown with gold shimmer.

Pigmentation: All shades are superbly pigmented, even the matte shades. They are buttery soft but not chalky and they blend like a dream with fingers and brushes. I prefer swiping the shimmer shades on the lids with my finger to preserve the strength of the colour; the glitter shade is best when pressed onto the lids with a flat eyeshadow brush, and the matte shades are pretty good with fingers or brushes. The most pigmented eyeshadow is Cocoa Puff and I’m happy to say it holds the gold shimmer pretty well, even when blended. My favourite eyeshadow is Honey Pot, which is sort of my everyday all over the lid colour; it reminds me a lot of UD Half Baked, but less bronze.

Lasting Power: These eyeshadows easily lasted from the moment I applied them at 3.30pm until about 10.30pm when I removed my makeup. That’s a good 7 hours with a primer, so I would say they last a bit less without a primer. My eyelids are not oily, so if yours are, then they might last less on you.

Overall, I really cannot recommend this palette enough! It was such an impulsive buy, but one that I’m glad I did. It’s quickly replaced all of my Naked Palettes and other palettes for that matter. It’s easy to travel with and the shades are perfect for a daytime look, a basic evening look or even a full-on smokey eye look.

I’m not sure if this was limited edition, but I can’t seem to find it anymore on the Too Faced website; I bought mine from Debenhams and they still have a few of them in stock, so hurry if you want one of these! I believe there’s another Too Faced palette called Natural Eyes, which is very similar, but that one has ‘Cashmere Bunny’ instead of ‘Velvet Revolver’ and ‘Chocolate Martini’ instead of Cocoa Puff’. The Natural At Night palette is also similar, but it’s a darker version of the Natural Eye palette.
