REVIEW: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Bonjour!

The french greeting is very appropriate for the product I’m reviewing today, which is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation.

This one is in the shade 53, but originally I had bought a shade 54, which I found to be slightly too dark for my skin, since summer is not quite fully here in the UK. I then decided to keep my shade 34 for when I’m back from my sunny holiday in the Mediterranean, and I bought a shade 54 to use whilst I’m still a bit paler.

The Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation comes in a lot more shades than the concealer from the same range, which only comes in 3 or 4 shades, so that was a plus. I decided to buy this foundation based on my super successful experience with the Healthy Mix concealer, which has now become my all time favourite concealer!

The consistency of this foundation is quite runny, but that helps it blend in well on the skin, so I wasn’t too worried about that. As soon as you start rubbing it into your skin, you can see that you’ll get quite a full coverage with this product!

I don’t normally go for the full coverage foundations because having dry skin, I find that full coverage foundations, such as my MAC Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation, make my skin look a bit flaky and cakey. However, the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation completely covered all my blemishes and redness, with only a bit of flakiness on the driest part of my face (in between my eyes). All you need is two pumps of the bottle to apply it on your whole face!

NB: I did not use any Photoshop on my blemishes because I wanted you to see actual coverage you get from the product.

I am so in love with this foundation already; I hardly need any concealer after applying the foundation and my face looks so fresh, clean and silky. Thank God I’ve got two shades of this because I will definitely be wearing this before and after going on holiday!

This is not the cheapest foundation, especially being a drugstore product, but it’s well worth the money. You can buy this in Boots or Superdrug for £9.99.

Have you tried this product? Would you recommend me a better one? Let me know on a comment below :)

I really want to buy this, it sounds really good. I have considered buying this after seeing how great Zoe’s (of Zoella) skin looked in a FOTD and she credited it on the Bourjois healthy mix foundation!
Thank you for the review, I found it very useful.

Your photos are lovely, somehow this didn’t work for me! It smelt horrid…like cleaner and I found it really difficult to build, the coverage for me was awful and I had to use powder over the top. Not a large selection of colours to choose from either so none were my perfect match unfortunately…in my eyes it is way way too pricey for a high street foundation which I would rate, for me, below average.

@Rachinald Hehe… Maybe it looks different on different types of skin. I don’t normally need too much foundation to cover my blemishes, so if a foundation manages to cover it all, it is full coverage for me :)

What’s your favourite full coverage foundation?

    Thanks for commenting! xx

@Holly Arabella Oh, I’m sorry it didn’t work for you… It is quite expensive, I agree and I way above the price range for highstreet makeup products, but since it worked for me, I think I’ll pay the price again to get the effect I got from this foundation.

It’s funny how it can work wonders for some, like me, and be awful to others! Have you tried writing to Bourjois and see what they have to say about your experience with the foundation?

Thanks for taking the time to comment :)

Thanks for the review! For reference, what shade are you in mac foundations? I have a similar skintone to yours and am unsure as to get shade 53 or 54

I’m glad you liked it! :o) I’m an NC35 in MAC foundations. At first, the 53 looked good because I bought it before the summer, when I was quite pale, but after the summer I was actually wearing a 56. Now, I’m probably up to a 54/55. Mad, isn’t it?! :o) Xx

I know this is an old post but I really liked your review and as it sounds like we have a similar skin type I’m tempted to try this. I’m also loving MyFace MyMix foundation at the moment, possibly a slightly lighter coverage but great for everyday and works brilliantly on my dry skin. Same sort of price too. x
