How To: Contour Your Face (Tutorial)

How To Contour To Slim Down Your Face (Step by Step Tutorial)

Last year the beauty world went mad about contouring; the technique has been around for a long time, but at least for me, it was only in 2012 that it really became widely known and spoken about. I blame Kim Kardashian for that; she posted a few pictures of herself on Instragram with her entire face mapped out for contouring and highlighting, so everyone (myself included) tried to recreate what Kim K’s makeup artist had done; after all her makeup (especially her skin) always looks absolutely flawless, so why not?

As I said on my Best of 2012 video (watch it here), one of goals for 2013 was to start using cream bronzers for contouring, as I think they look more natural than powders. So today I’m sharing with you a new product to kick off my cream contouring journey, along with a little tutorial on how to contour your cheekbones.

This is the Elf Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream in St. Lucia, a compact cream blush and bronzer duo. The blush shade is a warm brown-ish coral colour and the bronzer shade is a much darker brown, both matte which is perfect for contouring. I do believe that these particular shades are more suitable to medium to dark skin tones; it would be quite dark for anyone lighter than me, unless you’re super patient and are willing to spend some time blending it in really well.

The duo itself is brilliant; the shades are super pigmented, easy to blend and set to a powder finish. Best of all, at £3.75 it most certainly will not break the bank! So here’s how I use the Elf Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream to contour my cheekbones:

Easy-peasy, right? After that, just add a bit of blusher and you’re good to go! This is a great product and I can’t believe it costs less than £4! I would recommend it to anyone looking into trying a cream bronzer for contouring or for an all over healthy glow to the face. I hope you guys liked the mini-review and tutorial :)
