Review: Rimmel Colour Rush Balm
Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balm in Not An Illusion
boots.com, £5.99
I bought this on a whim. Actually, I take that back, I bought it because the amazingly dangerous Boots 3 for 2 offer is too darn tempting! I had in my hand the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in #107, the Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Varnish in Rapid Ruby and this lip balm was my ‘3’ for 2.
The Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balm is akin to the Clinique Chubby Sticks, the Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayons, and the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. It’s a moisturising coloured balm in a crayon form; it’s available in 7 shades with some really cool names – Give Me a Cuddle, Keep Mauving, Rumour Has It, The Redder the Better, On Fire, Not an Illusion and Drive me Nude.
There’s nothing really outstanding about this balm, in fact, all of the other similar ones I mentioned above are much better than the Rimmel version. Don’t get me wrong, Rimmel is my favourite drugstore/high street brand, but this balm is really just average.
The shade I have is ‘Not An Illusion’, which I bought thinking it was going to be a brown nude kind of shade, but it actually comes out quite orange toned on my skin. Orange is not my favourite lipstick colour; I kind of think it makes me look a bit ill it doesn’t complement my skin tone very much.
Fair enough, this is only £5.99, and it is moisturising, hydrating and all that jazz, but if I were to buy another lip crayon, I would go for the Clinique Chubby Stick or the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, if the cash-flow was a little low. Overall, I’m not that impressed by it and a bit disappointed with how deceiving the colour was; I’ll have to give this one a ‘thumbs down’. Sorry Rimmel!

With so many balm sticks to choose from, someone is going to have to come out with a magical unicorn one in order to compete :P. The color is lovely though.

Very true; there are so many out there now, but I still think none of them is as good as the Clinique Chubby Sticks! :) x

To be fair, the colour on your lips looks like the crayon itself… and I agree that it looks quite nice!
I love my “Drive me Nude” colour balm! I have yet to try other lip balm crayons as I’ve seen a few around from other brands but I think they are good especially for the cheaper price tag.

I have “The Redder the Better” and it’s in my profile picture. I love it and it feels so creamy.
