Giorgio Armani Si is one of the most unusual fragrances I’ve ever had the pleasure to own – it is truly one of a kind. It ranks right up there with my most favourite perfumes, such as Chanel No5 and Dior Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle. A quick whiff of it and I can immediately tell it’s Si I’m smelling, which is something I really like in fragrances. There’s no point in buying an expensive perfume if people keep mixing it up with any odd fragrance that you could buy for a fiver – you might as well save your pennies! At the same time, if you keep getting asked what shampoo you’re using because it smells so good, your perfume is clearly not doing its job very well.

That’s something that never happens when I wear Giorgio Armani Si. It is the dominant smell, regardless of what hand cream, shampoo or lotion I used that day! But what you really want to know is what does it smell like? Well, Si is a chypre scent, which is a term used to describe the contrast between fresh citrus and woody-musky notes. It’s warm, woody, floral and a bit sweet. In a few words, I would describe it as a unique, intoxicating and elegant scent! It’s very long-lasting, and moderately heavy, so it’s best used as an evening perfume or for special occasions, although I can’t really resist it and I wear it pretty much everyday!

The top notes are Sicilian bergamot, mandarin oil and liqueur de Cassis, so that’s where the citrus smell comes from. The heart notes are Rose de Mai, Neroli and Egyptian Jasmine, which gives it a bit of a floral component. The base notes are Patchouli Oil, Blond Woods, Amber, Orcanox and Vanille Absolute, and that is what gives this fragrance a sweet woody warmth. This blend of beautiful ingredients is what makes Si such a unique fragrance; it is very special to me, as it was a birthday present and one that fits my personal taste extremely well!

I know that fragrances are one of the most difficult products to review, because you really have to experience it to get the whole picture, but if I got you even a little bit excited or curious about Giorgio Armani Si, give it a try and wait for it to warm up on your skin. You won’t regret it! :)
